Akita Kenritsu Bijutsukan (Art Museum)
Akita Kenritsu Bijutsukan was opened in May 1967, and consists of exhibition rooms and a fine arts hall. The present facility was refurbished in April 1998. The exhibits center on works by Western-style painter Tsuguharu Fujita and collected by Masakichi Hirano, a strong supporter of Fujita. The collection includes 101 of Fujita's works and some 600 works in total. The Masakichi Hirano Bijutsukan Foundation was founded to care for the works he donated. Many local citizens also use the fine art hall as a gallery in which to present their own original works. |
