Situated on the Maroondah Highway, between Coldstream and Healesville, Domaine Chandon is an example of mass wine tourism done well. The winery - a subsidiary of Moët & Chandon - has a superbly designed reception area overlooking a superb vista where visitors can sample and buy wines.

The Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary is the kind of zoo that gives zoos a good name. It specialises in Australian fauna and is organised into habitats, and its bird displays are a particular highlight. Its breeding program that includes, among its feats, the first platypus born into captivity.

This museum, set on an established winery, showcases late-20th-century Australian art. There's a boutique and cafe in the complex as well as tastings in the adjoining winery. Works by Fred Williams, Albert Tucker, Brett Whiteley and John Olsen are among the highlights of the collection.
