LAZARETO
The ruins of Lazareto (an ancient prison) reveals some characteristics of the original building, such as the thick walls of mud which surrounded the cells, mantaining the place dark and, up to a certain point, hair-rising. These ruins are situated at Praia Preta, around 20 minutes on foot, leaving from Vila do Abraão. |

The Island of Angray Bay
Cataguazes Island The Cataguazes Island is one of the most beautiful islands of Angra. It is a small island with white sand beaches, green water and a lot of peace. The place is perfect to snorkeling and rest. Its small jungle is full of "Pitanga" trees, a red and sweet small fruit, very common in the Atlantic Rain Forest. Botinas Islands The Botinas Islands, also called sisters islands?are the most famous postcard of Angra. These two small islands, close to the continent, present the clearest and cleanest waters of Angra and the depth of the sea (over 10m) makes this place of the best to see the magnificent sub-aquatic life of the region.
Paqueta Island The Paqueta Island is one of the most visited island, sometimes surpassing the island capacity. However the beauty of its beaches and the fresh and delicious seafood served in the charmy restaurant in front of the sea, deserve the visit. |
