Histrorical Quarter Paraty was one of the most important ports of Brazil between the 17th and 18th centuries. The port was used to export the gold found in the mines of Minas Gerais state, what brought richness and progress to the old village. With the end of the Gold Cicle in the end of 18th century, the city was virtually abandoned. What seemed to be a tragedy for the economy in the past, became the engine of the progress in the end of the 80's. The old district still guards well preserved buildings and churches that create a charming and pleasant atmosphere, with nice restaurants, bars and stores. Boat Ride Paraty is located in the south end of the Ilha Grande Bay, which calm waters presents emerald green color and inumerous islands. This tour takes you for a 4 hours ride through the most beautiful beaches and islands of this area. A perfect opportunity to rest and snorklel among colored fishes in the trasperant and warm waters of Paraty. Trindade Beach An old fisherman village in the first beach of Rio de Janeiro state, Trindade was discoverd by the hippies in the end of the 70's and became a hot spot of adventures in the 80's. The area has 5 beaches, 3 of them in the back side of a small bay. These beaches have white sand and calm and green waters. The mais attraccion is the "Cachadan" a group of big rocks that creat a natural pool, perfect for snorkeling. During the holidays and weekends, this beach can become a little too crowded. Gold Trail Abandoned in the end of the 18th century, the old trail used by the gold seekers is now the newest attraction of Paraty. Recently rediscovered, this path remained hidden for centuries, as the Atlantic Rain Forest covered it after the end of Gold Cicle. Nowadays, walking through its old stoned path is a great opportunity to visit the Atlantic Rain Forest and know some of its secrets and history. |
