D. R. Seenivasagam Park

Located at Jalan Anderson is D. R. Seenivasagam Park. The fresh atmosphere and variety of flora are the main attractions of this park. There are over 600 samples of minerals, classified according to chemical content and structure. The museum is also noted ofr its exhibition of tin ore, including the best specimen of cassiterite in the world.

Located near the Perak Turf Club in Ipoh, this public park recreates the aesthetics of a Japanese garden. It contains a goldfish pond, wooden bridge and a small Japanese house in an attempt to simulate the meditative atmosphere of the traditional Japanese garden. The grounds are filled with tropical flowers, plants and trees. A colourful floral clock on a slope gives the time.

Located about 40km away from Ipoh, on the outskirts of a small town called Batu Gajah, is where Kellie’s Castle. Construction work on the building started in 1915. Initiated by William Kellie Smith, the development project was unfortunately put aside a few years later following his death. The Castle, with hidden rooms and a secret tunnel, is a building filled with mysterious and romantic stories. In addition, tourists will be fascinated to discover that the road leading to the Castle follows the contours of the land.

It was built without any plans and without nails. It contains the Royal Regalia, photographs of the Royal Family, illustrations and artefacts of the past and present monarchy in Perak.

Sightseeing Point - Tempurong Caves

Tempurong Caves

Believed to have existed since 8,000 B.C., Gua Tempurong is probably the largest natural limestone cave in Malaysia. Situated about 24 km from Ipoh, the cave stretches for 1.3 km and is made up of five huge domes whose ceilings resemble coconut shells. Each dome has different formations of stalagmites and stalactites. The entrance to the cave is in Gopeng which has a Visitors Centre for registration as a permit is required to visit the caves.

Ubudian Mosque

Located at Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar, the Ubudiah Mosque is reputed to be one of the most beautiful mosques in the country, it has some excellent touches of Islamic architecture in its magnificent golden domes and minerats. The construction of the mosque began in the regin of Sultan Idris Murshidul Adzam Shah I, the 28th Sultan of Perak, but was interrupted a number of times. Elephants damaged the Italian marble floor twice during the First World War. The mosque was officially opened in 1917.
