The Afrika Museum is a specially built West African village just outside of Nijmegen. The museum also includes a small animal park, and a museum holding a collection of totems, carvings, and musical instruments. The museum holds regular workshops which teach visitors about African life, arts, crafts, and music. There museum is slightly out of the way, with a 20 minute walk to the nearest bus stop. |

The Bijbels Openluchtmuseum, or, Biblical Open-Air Museum is an incredible reconstruction of the ancient Holy Land. The museum includes a Galilean fishing village, a Palestinian hamlet, and streets of Egyptian, Greek, Jewish and Roman buildings. The museum is located to the Southeast of Nijmegen, and is well served by bus routes leaving from central Nijmegen. |

The Grote Kerk in Nijmegen is dedicated to St Stephen. Construction began around the year 1260, and the first tower was built in 1307. There is little of the original building remaining, with the nave having been rebuilt in the 1400s, and many additions made in the late 16th and early 17th centurues. The church was heavily damaged during the Second World War, but has been carefully restored. The tomb of Catherine of Bourbon can be found in the choir. |

Valkhof Palace, Valkhof Park, Nijmegen
Valkhof Palace is a large complex of chapels and related buildings which was constructed in the 8th century. It was rebuild in 1155 by Frederick Barbarosa, and was a central part of Nejmegen up until 1769, when the palace was taken apart and the stonework sold. Much of the rest was destroyed during French occupation in 1796, but what remains can be seen in Valkhof Park, and offers an interesting insight into the history of the town. |

The Velorama National Bicycle Museum is the only one of its kind in Holldand. It holds a collection of 250 classic bicycles, and looks at how cycles were invented, and how they have evolved over the years. The museum opened in 1981, and was based on a private collection of bikes and accessories owned by the museum’s founder, Mr Gertjan Moed, a collection which includes the first ’hobby-horse’, which was made in 1817. |

The Waag, or ’Weigh House’ in Nijmegen is located on the Grote Markt, and is next to the meat market. It is a traditional red-bricked Renaissance building, with black and red shuttered dormer windows, arched doorways, and classic style stepped gables. It is located not far from the old Church, and is a popular feature of the Nijmegen walking tours. |
