Heritage and History
Heritage and History Nordmøre has been populated for 10,000 years - traces of these early settlers can still be found. During the Viking Age, Nordmøre held a central position - ancient monuments witnessing this are still standing. World War II brought hard times, and some of the consequence can still be seen. Nature has given Nordmøre mountains with altitudes of more than 2000 m, waterfalls dropping several hundred meters, a lively coastal heritage and incredible flora and fauna. All these attractions act as the "aides -mémoire" to ensure you will never forget your visit to Nordmøre. |

Grip
Grip is a tiny island that lies 14 km out to sea. The buildings in the village are packed as close together as in a small town, and nestling between the houses, there is a 500-year-old stave church. The fishing village of Veiholmen is located towards the northernmost tip of Smøla and is linked to the main island by a road that with its bridges, landfills and protective breakwaters is an adventure in itself. Veiholmen is a lively fishing village with fishing boats arriving with their catches and the gulls and sea eagles hovering overhead in their quest for food. |
